ABOUT THE SURROUNDINGS OF FES
When visitors arrive in Fez, their eyes will immediately turn to the different doors that make up the citywalls.
First of all in the south, the Borj-sud signifying the fort of the south, offers a magnificent panorama over the whole city once its terrace is reached. Then, near the Msallah mosque, visitors can explore the potters’ district called Aïn-Nokbi, a space where everyone can discover the craft skills. Still roaming the city, visitors will linger in the Merenid tombs, containing the bodies of the rulers of this dynasty. Finally, to complete the walk, tourists can visit the Arms Museum, located north of the fortifications of Fez, and which exhibits swords, sabers and firearms since medieval times. A long walk along the city walls, to discover its architecture, its traditions and the vestiges of its history.
